Kamal Koirala, is a familiar name in the field of conflict, peace and human rights among the second generation peace practitioners of Nepal and is one of the well-equipped trainer on peace, human rights and social justice related issues. He has had his hands in various areas of peace and development and have been working for the human rights education enhancing networking among the human rights defenders and human rights organizations. Having accomplished university degree in Conflict Peace & Development Studies, he has been working as a consultant for various projects concerning conflict & peace and as a visiting faculty at different colleges.
Mr. Koirala do have an experience of working; with the community people through different nongovernmental organizations and also with the United Nations through the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office, Nepal. Apart from this he has also served as the Secretary of Human Rights Defenders’ Council, Province No. 1, Associate Coordinator of Human Rights Network Sunsari and member in various other human rights related networks.
Being a peace practitioner working for the promotion of culture of peace and human rights with a belief that human rights and responsibilities are two sides of a coin, he do have a longstanding contribution as a human rights defender in the eastern part of Nepal.
Mr. Koirala is the Adviser of Common Platform for Common Goal (CoCoN) and currently, he has been assigned the responsibilities of the Executive Head of the organization .
